La Promenade Best Western Hotel Noumea is the newest hotel in Anse Vata, the tourism center of New Caledonia. It is named after the road - La Promenade Rodger Laroque - that goes just behind Baie des Citrons and Anse Vata beaches.
During the Second World War the site was General Douglas McArthur's headquarters for the Alliance. After the war, the site became the base of operations of the South Pacific Commission - now renamed the Secretariat of the Pacific Community and relocated just down the Promenade.
There is a wide selection of restaurants, shops, bars and night clubs along La Promenade and the Anse Vata beach is a favourite for windsurfing and small sailboats.
